Dear Parents and Carers,

From the 6th- 10th June we will be holding our annual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) outdoor learning event. Last year we had a fantastic week designing and creating dens with lots of parents/carers joining in. During this week each year group will be improving a designated area of the school grounds to provide a wider range of outdoor learning opportunities for our children.

We will be running parent/carer and child workshops from 1.30pm – 3.00pm (approx) on the dates below to engage the school community in STEM subjects.

Tuesday 7th June - Year 3 : Bridge Building workshop

Wednesday 8th June - Year 1 : Totem Poles
Reception : Improving foundation stage garden

Thursday 9th June - Year 2 : Designing and making kites and wind chimes

To ensure we have the necessary resources and skills for STEM week, each year group will be making a wish tree asking for suitable donations (eg. paint brush, seeds, natural materials etc). On Monday 23rd May every child in school will have the opportunity to choose a leaf from their tree with their parent/carer. We would be really grateful if all donations could be given into school before the half term holiday or staff to be made aware of what will be donated to enable us to source other necessary items prior to STEM week.

We would also be really grateful for anyone with building or landscaping experience to help out (fixing fence posts etc). If you or someone you know is able to help please come and talk to a member of staff.
