Expectations

Throughout the year children are encouraged to become more independent in their learning. The emphasis in reading moves from phonics to comprehension skills and joined handwriting is introduced. 

P.E

Class 5 will take part in PE every Tuesday (indoor) and Wednesday(outdoor).
Class 6 will take part in PE every Tuesday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor).
Please make sure they have their full P.E. kit in school all week

Homework, Book Bags and Reading Scheme Information

Your child will will receive a half termly homework letter in their homework books which they will take home in a red folder.  Homework is sent home on Friday and should be returned to school the following Tuesday.

Each child should have a book bag which they bring with them each day into school. Children will be heard to read regularly, Teachers will review progress and change levels accordingly. Reading is also supported by teaching assistants and volunteers. 

Sets Information

Year 2 have two mixed ability sets  and one support set for literacy and 3 ability sets for numeracy which enable us to provide rich, tailored learning experiences that fully support and challenge all pupils. Your child may have different teachers for these subjects.

Year 2 have a range of exciting half termly topics including: Rescue at sea (Grace Darling), Roald Dahl, Inventions and Pirates
